Thursday night held high regard for 3 Chippewa Valley prep volleyball teams. The D1 Chi-Hi Cardinals overcame a tough fight to beat Hudson in a set that went all 5 games. (21-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-27, 15-12) This is tournament time and we shouldn't be surprised by the gripping atmosphere that engulfs gyms around the Valley. Pushing any seed that gets this far to try and break or upset any higher seeded team.
The #1Cardinals will play #2River Falls, whom swept Superior in 3 games last night. They will meet at Eau Claire North High School on Saturday night at 7pm.
The Division 2 sectional took #4Barron to #2Bloomer and a completely packed wall-to-wall gym! Possibly equal parts Bears fans to Blackhawks. The opening game delivered witness to Bloomer's dominance which was quickly defused by a Bear attack in game 2. Pushing the set in to 5 games the relentlessness ended with Bloomer on top and set to face #5West Salem in Arcadia for the sectional championship on Saturday night also at 7pm. (25-12, 6-25, 25-13, 22-25,15-11)
Division 4 was a bit of an exception to the other two games as this was all Macks from the get-go. The State Champions McDonell Macks have not allowed 1 game loss since the beginning of the tournament and the #6Turtle Lake Lakers found that out as the kills and blocks ran feverish. Saturday at 7pm they will take on Mercer who also has #1 seed in their top half of the bracket. This sectional Championship is going to be one to watch as both of these teams have shown their dominance all year. (25-21, 25-15, 25-15)
